unjust pay gap reveals actors' mansions are way bigger than actresses' mansions.

The injustice continues. After Forbes released their list of Hollywood's Highest Paid Actors of 2018, we were all brutally reminded of one, undeniable fact -- that actors' mansions are way bigger than actresses' mansions, by, like, an embarrassing amount.
Fans of rich celebrities came to social media to speak out on the many millions more that male actors had received last year in comparison to their female counterparts. One particularly shocking note was the fact that George Clooney, famous for being as old as he is symmetrical, had earned the high pre tax sum of $239 million dollars, while the highest paid actress, Scarlet Johansson, only received $40 million dollars. Marvel fans and cinephiles who saw Under the Skin criticized Hollywood for giving one of the hardest working actresses today such a shockingly measly salary.
An advocate of pay equity and spokesperson for the American working class took to Twitter to say this about the blatant inequity within Hollywood -- "I work in the sanitation department for a chemical plant in the Midwest. I almost lost my job during my first pregnancy after begging my boss to stop recommending me to monthly gym subscriptions. After speaking out on the fact that I only make $8.00 an hour while my male peers make $9.50, it was nice that people on the internet compared Scarlet Johannsson making $40 million dollars a year to my struggle. It made me feel less alone, while at the same time, just as poor. Even after getting pregnant with my second child and my boss offering the female staff free health exams that turned out to be non consenting hysterectomies and butt lifts, I'm glad people care about sexism within the workplace and continue to fight so that rich actresses can have bigger mansions."
Wow. Now that's girl power! Meanwhile, the privileged male George Clooney posted a picture on Instagram yesterday of him eating golden laced Cheerios out of a golden cereal box for breakfast while using his own butler as a rocking chair. Many of his fans praised him for his luxurious lifestyle, while others pointed out some photos taken of a down on her luck Scarlet Johansson eating Filet Mignon on a diamond encrusted plate in downtown Los Angeles, with -- you guessed it, a regular old fork and knife. Even looking at each actors' respective places of residence, we saw a shocking disparity, with Scarlett Johannsson's $4 million dollar home in the shacks of Los Feliz stacking low against Clooney's $13 million dollar villa in Lake Como, Italy. Looks like we're all taking a whiff of sexism -- and it smells absolutely terrible.
Even Gwyneth Paltrow, owner and CEO of Goop Industries spoke out on the issue, saying how her Iron Man co-star Robert Downey Jr. had made so much money from the Marvel franchise that he had begun eating his earnings between takes, just for funsies. "He was up on the wires filming a scene," the actress explained, "And afterwards, he had got a really bad stomachache and was hacking up something awful. I recommended he stick one of my jade eggs in his pants, but he refused, instead vomiting all over the crafts table." Paltrow also made a point to say how much she adored her co-star and how generous a man he was, saying how after the incident, he told a nearby production assistant that she could simply have the $100, provided she cleaned up the vomit that came with it. However, despite how cool and philanthropic Downey Jr. may be, it's clear that if Gwyneth Paltrow were to hack up some cash, it would be $30, $40 dollars max, and the difference between how rich women are paid and rich men are paid is a glaring issue that audiences who live paycheck to paycheck should address immediately.
The testimonies of these incredibly wealthy women and blatant pay inequities within Hollywood are not to be taken lightly, and proves that we must fight for equality for everyone, especially the filthy rich. And maybe, just maybe if we can achieve gender equality within the Hollywood elite, maybe then we can start thinking about women in the middle classes, and maybe then, if we have some time to spare, take care of all the poor and disenfranchised women that take all those disgusting jobs that no one wants. Girl power!
