theaters nationwide introduce mandatory subtitles for the upcoming tom hardy film, venom.

Much like black and white films are remastered in vibrant, stunning color, Columbia Pictures has released a statement that they will be releasing Tom Hardy's new film, Venom, with mandatory subtitles, in an attempt to assist audiences in what they call "basic movie plot comprehension."

Fans have already praised the change, saying how excited they are to see the actor's performance in a completely new light. After watching The Dark Knight Rises with subtitles for the first time since theatrical release, a fan wrote, "I finally understand that Bane was actually the bad guy. All this time I thought he was second Batman in a fur coat." Another Hardy fan on Twitter, after attending the premiere of Mad Max: Fury Road, said, "I thought Mel Gibson was going to show up at some point and cameo, but it turns out, Tom Hardy wasn't saying he had a bad back, he was saying that he was Mad Max." Audiences from all over social media are celebrating the news that they'll finally be able to understand the Dunkirk star, no longer having to worry if he actually said "like a turd in the wind" at the end of that Venom trailer, as we now officially have confirmation that that insane coupling of words was an accurate translation, and of course, canon.

And now with the seasoned actor making his mark in the tiny blip of MCU property that Sony desperately clings onto, fans are excited to see him chew off and digest multiple human heads as Spiderman villain Venom, all without sacrificing that special brand of Hardy delivery we all know and love -- one parts Ghostface voice changer, one parts Darth Vader, two parts inebriated Sean Connery.

It seems Sony has their work cut out for them however, as even their own spokesman has admitted that despite using the movie's script as a guideline, Tom had gone off script so far and so often on set that providing subtitles will essentially be a guessing game. Well, despite the challenge, Columbia Pictures is dedicated to providing the most lucid translation that can be produced, confident that Hardy won't be giving us his last great performance in a mask, but certainly his first in semi-coherent English.
